Gremio Lusitano: 100 Years of History

In 1922, conversations between Mr. José Romano Santos, who would become the first president of the Grémio Lusitano Club, and many friends, a cultural center was planned for these community members to enjoy and promote the civic, cultural, and recreational characteristics of Portuguese culture in the town of Ludlow, Massachusetts. On July 9, 1922, in the garage of 61 Franklin Street in Ludlow, the first meeting of the Grémio Lusitano was held and our story begins.
